Conegliano is a town and comune in Treviso province, in the north-eastern Italian region of Veneto. It lies 30 km north of Treviso and enjoys good rail and road links. The population is 35,000 and the town was the birthplace of artist Cima da Conegliano; the 15th century cathedral has a fine altarpiece by Cima. On a hill overlooking the town stands the remains of the thousand-year old castle, once home to the Bishop of Vittorio Veneto, and now housing the Conegliano museum.
