This villa for sale is on Panarea, the second smallest of the Aeolian islands, off the coast of Sicily.
A detached villa in the typical Aeolian islands style, it is 250 metres from the beach at Panarea, dominating the famous bay of Cala Junco. The building is on three floors, with servants' rooms on the ground floor, the day area on the first and the bedrooms on the second.
Panarea has a surface area of just 3.4 kmē. There is archaeological evidence dating back to Mycenaean inhabitants in around 1200BC, and the island was settled by the Romans.
The island is an ancient, inactive volcano. The highest point, Punta del Corvo, is 421m above sea level. There are thermal springs near the village of Punta di Peppe e Maria. Scuba diving is a popular sport and you can dive to the shipwreck between the offshore rocks of Lisca Bianca and Bottaro. There are currently around 280 people living on the island year round, though summer sees an influx of holidaymakers.
