This castle for sale in Abruzzo lies in Miglianico, in the Province of Chieti, sitting on a hill 130 metres above sea level in the splendid valley of the Foro river.

From the town you have a wonderful view of vineyards and fields. This extends to the north-east towards the Adriatic Sea while towards the south-west is dominated by the Maiella massif (2795 metres).

Miglianico is 6km from the A14 motorway (exit Pescara sud-Francavilla); 6km from the beach; 30 minutes from the Maiella ski slopes; and 4km from an 18 hole par 72 golf course.

The castle sits on a hill top, dominating the town centre and the whole valley. It's part of a small village (borghetto) that includes, apart from the castle, a three-storey building which dates back to the beginning of the 19th century (approximately 1500 square metres with a wine cellar, offices, housing, warehouses and wide premises with visible beams). There is also a two-storey building of the same historical period (with housing and premises). Both are in good condition. The castle and both of the above buildings face a central square.

The castle dates back to medieval times but remnants of an earlier era have been found within the castle walls. The castle has been restored various times, the last probably during the 18th century. It was last purchased by Filippo Masci in the 1930s, together with the two other buildings that make up the borghetto.

During World War II, the castle was mined and only a few rooms were saved. In the 1950s the owners restored the castle in an architecturally imaginative fashion: a mix of modern and traditional with the use of ancient materials and extreme attention to detail.

With an area of more than 3000 square metres on four levels, the castle, built entirely of brick, is in excellent condition, including the interior. The floors are in travertine marble, terracotta tiles and Vietri ceramics. The fixtures are in aluminium, the coverings of the public rooms are in fine fabrics, and there are numerous fireplaces.

The ground level has a xmall internal courtyard with garden. There is an independent apartment, with living room, big kitchen, four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The main entrance, with staircase and life is on this floor. There is a games room with billiard table, two hobby rooms, a further entrance and secondary staircase.

The first floor has three large and two small living rooms; dining room; elegant corridors; kitchen and pantry; four bedrooms; four bathrooms.
