At its feet lies the Basilica di San Biagio, a Christian church on the site of the ancient pagan temple of Minerva. Each year in May, this borgo is the focus of Maratea's main festivities, as a statue of the town's patron saint is pulled up the hill.

Unspoiled as it is, the hamlet is handy for the beautiful Tyrrhenian coast, a marvellous mix of rocky coves and sandy beaches, with good resorts, bars and restaurants.
